I create images that did not previously exist, using photography as my foundation. Parts of what appears in my work are rooted in truth, while the rest is constructed. The subject I see begins to diverge from reality the moment I begin to photograph it, and onto that divergence, I project my gaze and intention to complete the image. I believe that what we call reality is constructed within the frameworks of language and image. My work seeks to disrupt those frameworks through a form I call fantasy. My photographs are not evidence of a solid world, but loosely assembled structures of fragments that can never be fully secured.
나는 사진으로, 존재하지 않던 이미지를 만들어내는 작업을 한다.
내 작업 속 대상의 일부는 진실이고, 나머지는 가공된 이미지다.
내가 보는 피사체는 촬영 행위로부터 현실과 어긋나기 시작하며,
그 위에 나의 시선과 의도를 투영해 하나의 이미지를 완성한다.
내가 보는 현실은 언어와 이미지의 틀 속에서 구성된 것이라 믿는다.
나는 그 틀을 ‘판타지’라는 형식으로 어긋나게 한다.
내 사진은 단단한 세계의 증거가 아니라,
결코 견고할 수 없는 파편들이 느슨하게 조립된 구조물이다.
